Download books ipod classic

I have no idea what generation this iPod is. Where does it tell a user? I see the Libby app on the iPod but nothing helps me to put a book from the shelf I created on my laptop on the iPod. The Libby app requires iOS 9 or later. If your device cannot run iOS 9 then there is no way the app can run on the ipod.

I used to use this app, moved to a subscription service, and decided to come back today.
