How to install software on wm 6.5

What brand of card is it? Why did you have to reformat it? How satisfied are you with this reply? Thanks for your feedback, it helps us improve the site. In reply to Resourceful's post on August 18, Hi, Thank you for your reply. I am about to pull out my hair There is no logic in what I am experiencing.

To start with, the card says Kingston but who will tell if this is actually true You ask why I did reformat it? Well, for the simple reason that the card was behaving strange. So I wanted to start with a clean slate. I managed to copy over content from a 16 GB SD card. This is the folder Documents, containing pdf files, and office files for Word and Excell. No problems here. I had serious issues copying over pictures and videos from my PC.

From the PC all looks OK after the copy process is done. I see them on the SD card. I take out the USB cable, use file explorer on the phone, no files to see, or if they are there I can open them, and all of a sudden they can no longer be oped. I took out the card, putted it in a USB card reader, and deleted the picture and video folder. Started over again, moved the card to the phone again, and all is OK now. I can download files through the mobile browser, and store them.

All OK. I tried downloading cab files, works ok. But I can not install on the SD card. I did some research on if there could be a restriction on installing on SD. The fact that Windows Markedplace has opened up for installing on SD says enough. Yes it should be possible, unless the program is of that kind that it NEEDS to be installed in the main memory. That said, I downloaded one app from the markedplace, and indeed, it installed fine on the SD.

But app 2 and 3 gave an error, and asked to retry again, but with different location. So I don't know if this was a technical problem, or due to the nature of the software. Next I tried copying over some avi and mp4 files from my PC to the phone.

I disconnect the phone, open the mobile file browser, and no files to see I guess 16 GB is the max. So I say no. I also tested by connected the phone to the PC as described, download a larg zip file and store it directly on the SD card, file size is Mb. Download completed, I want to open the zip file to see the content, no good.

File is possibly damaged. Same download stored on my PC, no problem. Retried this process several times, same thing. It need to start assuming that there is a problem with the card. I contacted HTC support, and class 2 or 4 should not make a difference. All I do is ordinary storage, so speed should not be an issue. They where going to try to reproduce the problem with a HD2 and class 4 SD.

So I wait a few days. I will try to borrow another SD card, and do some more tests. In reply to HarryTheSatman's post on August 18, Indeed, I am thinking in the same lines. It just behaves different compared to WM5.

I remembered that I copied over a folder containing mp4 files. So after the copy process was completed, I renamed the folder to something simple. Files still in tact. But not visible from the phone once disconnected.

I just deleted the folder, created a new one with a short name, and copied over again. Now the files are there, also from the phones point of view. Yes, I was convinced that I managed to install an app from the markedplace.
