HERE is a link on a procedure that will show you how to do this. I'll start first thing Tomorrow, I hope I'm able to pull it off. By the way, I forgot that you can do that on Dell's web site, to get the Drivers and utilties thanks!
My two Vistas are totally separate - on separate hard drives. I don't use Vista 64 bit much except for my audio recording so changing it in the BIOS is not really a hassle. I don't have a "dual boot" where both OS' are installed on the same hard drive or partition. I did have the dual boot with Vista 64 bit and Windows 7 beta 64 bit but I've uninstalled Windows 7 beta. I've found a few drivers, I was woundering if i can use the Divers and utilties CD that came with PC, would that help?
I've look on to it and most of the drivers have a check mark, it help alot finding thing that i missed. Yes, i did look at the device manager like you said. You can put them on anything to store them as once you run them they will extract themselves to a directory on you harddrive.
I belive that director would be under the Dell main folder and there would be subfolders for each driver. Just remember that each drive will just have a R number not a name so that was one way I kept track of the files. Browse Community. New to Dell Community. Turn on suggestions. You can create a new partition on your existing drive using software such as Partition Magic or Partition Expert which I recommend , both are available online. Once you have your second partition or second hard disk operational, just insert your Windows Vista disk and restart the machine. You should see a screen letting you know that Windows Vista is loading.
The default settings are set for English, click next to continue. Now select the Install Now button. Now you will need to enter your Microsoft Windows Vista serial number. By default Windows Vista will activate you copy after installation, you can unselect this option is you wish.
I recommend un-checking the box, simply because Microsoft may lock your serial key if it is activated too many times, this could happen if you are experimenting and have to reinstall Vista, or if you decide to install Vista by itself later on.
If you decide to disable the automatic activation routine, you will receive a warning. Click yes to continue. Select the correct version for your license.
